Há quase 2 semanas, as minhas amigas Veronique e Julie e eu fomos ao muito antecipado "Knitting and Stitching Show" anual em Dublin...foi muito bom, como sempre! Adorei!!

No entanto, este ano tentei REALMENTE ir com um orçamento limitado (não levei nenhum cartão bancário, nem o débito, nem o de crédito, só uma quantidade limitada de dinheiro...eu sei que posso cair facilmente em tentação!) e comprar só o que adorei e não o que gostei ou achei giro. Acho que resultou...

Comprei muito poucas peças relacionadas com tricot (só uma peça para a Isabel para o próximo verão) e "atirei-me" aos tecidos...talvez porque tenha começado a coser um pouco, estou muito entusiasmada com tecidos :)

Almost 2 weeks ago my friends Veronique and Julie and I went to the most anticipated annual "Knitting and Stitching Show" in Dublin...it was great, as always! I loved it!!

This year, though, I REALLY tried to go in with a limited  budget (I didn't bring any credit or debit cards, just a limited amount of cash...I know I can easily fall into temptation!!) and to by only what I loved  (not what I liked or thought it was cute as well). I think it worked...

I bought very little knitting related items (just something for Isabel for next summer) and went for lovely fabrics instead...maybe because I'm starting to sew a little, I'm getting really excited about fabrics :)

Maio já está a acabar? :: Is May nearly over?

Há tanto tempo que não venho aqui...desde o principio do mês de Abril que tenho andado super-ocupada no trabalho (muitas mudanças) e com a família e amigos. Desculpem-me a ausência...prometo que vos vou contar tudo o que tenho andado a fazer já a seguir.

No princípio de Maio fomos até ao "Festival do Cordeirinho" em Roscommon (eu tinha que ir lá espreitar!) e estes foram os meus momentos favoritos...o primeiro foi quando fiz parte do grupo que bateu o record do mundo de tricotadeiras a tricotar ao mesmo tempo todas juntas no mesmo sítio :)

I haven't been here in such a long time...I have been really busy at work (a lot of changes) and with family and friends since the beginning of the month of April . Please forgive me...I promise I'll tell you all about what I've been doing now.

At the beggining of May we went up to Roscommon to the "Lamb Festival" (I had to see what it was all about!) and these were my favourite moments...the first one was when I was part of the group that bet the world record for the most knitters knitting in the same place :)

Adorei conhecer a Winnie e a sua loja ambulante...não é a loja de lãs (ambulante) mais fixe que já viram?

I loved to meet Winnie and her wool wagon...isn't that the coolest (portable) wool shop ever?
E...finalmente, o melhor momento (acho que os meus acompanhantes concordam comigo)...a corrida das ovelhas!!! Foi tão divertido (e nenhuma ovelha se aleijou) :)

And...finally, the best moment (I think my travel companions agree with me)...the sheep race!!! It was so much fun (and no sheep got hurt) :)

Basket making

Acreditem ou não, no sábado passado fiz um cesto...e gostei muito! Foi uma iniciativa da minha amiga Margaret :)

Believe it or not, I made a basket last Saturday...and I loved it! It was all because of my friend Margaret :)

Beehive Hat

No outro dia, o meu modelo favorito posou para mim com o seu novo gorro, o "Beehive Hat" (o gorro "colmeia" - link do Ravelry) que a mamã tricotou :) A sessão fotográfica correu tão bem...de certeza que o vou contratar outra vez em breve!

The other day my favourite model let me take a few pictures of him wearing his new hat, the "Beehive Hat" (Ravelry link) that his mammy knitted especially for him :) The photo session went so well...I'm sure I'll be hiring him again soon!

My hands

Às vezes penso que as minhas mãos são deslumbrantes... Gosto especialmente de as usar para tricotar, para "falar", para fazer bolos, para passar no cabelo e bochechas do James, para comer, para tocar e agora para coser :) Eu adorei o workshop da Rosa, do qual fiz parte durante as minhas férias em Portugal neste Verão...fizemos esta pequena almofadinha de alfinetes com tecidos portugueses tradicionais. Adorei! Agora "só" tenho que fazer o (já muito atrasado) trabalho de casa... as minhas mãos estão muito ocupadas, temos que agendar isto!!

Sometimes I think my hands are amazing... I especially like to use them to knit, to "talk", to bake, to feel James' hair and cheeks, to eat, to touch and now to sew :) I loved Rosa's workshop that I took part during my holidays in Portugal this summer...we made this little pin cushion with traditional portuguese fabrics. Loved it! Now I "just" need to do the (long due) homework... my hands are too busy, we need to schedule this!!

The knitting & stitching show, aka "heaven"

Ontem foi um dia em cheio...o dia do "Knitting & Stitching Show" em Dublin (uma feira enorme de hobbies com mostras, lojas e workshops em tricot, ponto cruz, patchwork, scrapbooking, postais feitos à mão, etc, etc)!! Oh...eu estava no céu, só a minha carteira é que sofreu um bocadinho (ok, talvez muito) :)

Yesterday we went to the "Knitting & Stitching Show" in Dublin (a great textile exhibition with workshops, demonstrations & shops covering knitting, cross-stitch, patchwork, scrapbooking, card-making, etc, etc)!! oh...I was in heaven, only my wallet suffered a little (ok, maybe a lot) :)

Foi fantástico, como sempre...o contacto com as pessoas, as novas técnicas e produtos disponíveis, as compras, o convívio com as amigas (da esquerda para a direita na foto em baixo, Stela, Litícia e Julieta) é espectacular! Diverti-me muito e a contagem decrescente para o próximo ano já começou ;)

It was fantastic, as always...the networking, the new techniques and products available, the shopping, spending time with friends (from the left in the picture below, Stela, Litícia and Julieta) was spectacular! I had a lot of fun and already started the countdown for next year's event ;)

Carlow Christmas Fair

Hoje visitei uma feira de artesanato de Natal num dos lugares mais bonitos do Condado de Carlow, nas ruinas de Ducketts Grove. Aí apreciei o trabalho e conheci vários artistas locais; a minha preferida foi realmente a Mary Doyle da "Donard Workshop" que faz bonecos e pantufas giríssimas que podem ver aqui...as que comprei ainda não têm destinatário, mas eram tão giras que não lhes resisti :)

Today I've visited a Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair in one of the most beautiful places of County Carlow, the Ducketts Grove ruins. There I appreciated the work and met several local artesans; my favourite was Mary Doyle from "Donard Workshop" that makes beautiful dolls and slipers that you can see here...the ones I got weren't bought for anyone in particular but they were so cute, I couldn't resist them :)

What a great time of the year!...

O Outono está a chegar. Na verdade, eu acho que já está lá fora. E o que é que eu vou fazer acerca disso? Eu queixo-me da chuva (uma qualidade que qualquer habitante desta ilha possui naturalmente), faço tricot quase a toda a hora, ligo o aquecimento ao fim da tarde, compro tecidos encantadores na ETSY (para fazer coisas giras com a minha, ainda nova, máquina de costura durante os muitos fins-de-semana chuvosos que nos esperam nos próximos meses), bebo chá e faço listas e mais listas (de coisas para fazer até ao Natal) no meu novo "caderno de listas" adorável feito pela Jennifer. Que fantástica época do ano!...

Autumn is coming. Actually, I think it's already outside. And what do I do about it? I complain about the rain (a quality that every inhabitant of this island has, naturally), knit almost all the time (it's so exciting), put on the heating in the evening, shop on ETSY for lovely fabrics (to make cute little things with my - still new - sewing machine during the many rainy weekends expected for the following months), drink tea and make lists after lists (of things to do until Christmas) in my new adorable quilted List-Taker made by Jennifer. What a great time of the year!...
