Casaquinho de bebé novo :: New baby cardigan

Já vos posso mostrar o casaquinho de bebé que tenho andado a tricotar nos últimos meses (muito devagarinho, com outros projectos ao mesmo tempo). O casquinho chama-se "Little Coffee Bean" e podem encontrá-lo aqui.

Foi um prazer tricotar este casaquinho! Foi muito fácil, muito bem escrito e perfeito para eu usar lã que eu tenho no meu "stash". Só tive problemas em encontrar os botões certos...tenho que dizer que a retrosaria local não tem uma grande variedade de botões mas, felizmente, eu tinha "alguns" em stock; mesmo não sendo do tamanho certo para mim (eu gostava que tivessem sido um pouco maiores), eu corrigi o tamanho das casas dos botões. E assim o casaquinho esteve pronto a tempo do Baptizado do bebé Rían.

I can finally show you the baby cardigan that I have been knitting for the past few months (very slowly, with other projects also on the go). The cardigan is called Little Coffee Bean Cardigan and you can find the pattern for here.

This cardigan was an absolute pleasure to knit! It was so easy, so well written and perfect for me to use some yarn of my stash. I only had trouble finding the right buttons...I must say that the local harbedeshery doesn't have a great selection of buttons but, fortunatelly I have "a few" in my stash; although they weren't the perfect size for me (I would have liked them to be a little bit bigger), I corrected the button cases instead. The cardigan was ready on time for little baby Rían's Christenning.

No início deste ano, durante os meses em que a nova casa estava a ser remodelada e nós espeavámos  e desesperávamos, houve sempre tempo para um bocadinho de tricot. No princípio de Marco fiz umas botinhas, um casaquinho de bebé e um gorro para uma amiga...em breve partilho mais alguns projectos que, neste momento, sao secretos.

 

In the beginning of this year, during the months in which our new house was being renovated and we were waiting and "despairing", there was always time for a little bit of knitting. At the beginning of March I completed a pair of little booties, a baby cardigan and hat for a friend...soon I will share some of the projects that are now secret.

Cachecol da Raposa :: Fox Scarf

Parte do meu trabalho como trabalhadora comunitária consiste em apoiar o desenvolvimento de um grupo de tricot numa área não muito previlegiada da vila...é um projecto muito gratificante! Um dos modelos mais populares nesse grupo de tricot é o "Cachecol da Raposa" e, como não podia deixar de ser, eu também tricotei um...para o meu menino "grande". E aqui está ele a posar para a fotografia com o seu cachecol novo, o meu menino doce, doce e reguila!

Part of my work as a community worker is to support the development of a knitting group in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the town...and it's a very rewarding project! One of the most popular patterns in that knitting group is the "Fox Scarf" and, of course I had to knit one...for my "big" boy. And here he is, posing with his new scarf, my sweet, sweet, cheeky boy!

Casaquinho das estrelinhas :: Little stars cardigan

 

Só agora tive a oportunidade de vos mostrar o último casaquinho que tricotei para a Isabel. É deste livro e muito fácil de fazer...mas, como á não estou habituada a coser muitas peças quando tricoto, achei essa parte um pouco chata. Eu estou contente com o resultado final e minha modelo também parece estar...

Only now I had the opportunity to show you the last little cardigan I have knitted for Isabel. It's from this book and very easy to knit...but, maybe because I'm so used to knit in the round with no seams, I've found the sewing of the different parts of the cardigan a little bit boring. I'm happy with the final result and I think that my little model is happy as well...

Tricotar para dar :: Knitting to give

Eu tricoto, geralmente, para dar peças únicas a pessoas especiais. Adoro especialmente tricotar para bebés...e embrulhar as peças em algo divertido ou fofinho (depende da ocasião). O meu problema é arranjar tempo para tricotar para mim!

I knit, generally, to give unique pieces to special people. I especially love to knit for babies...and wrap the pieces in something fun or sweet (depending on the occasion). My problem is finding time to knit for me!

Com o tricot na cabeça :: Knitting on my mind

O facto é que eu adoro tricotar para bebés...são, normalmente, peças rápidas de fazer e muito gratificantes. Esta peça, o Pebble é, na minha opinião, particularmente adorável e ideal para meninos. É já o meu segundo, desta vez para o bebé de uma amiga. Desta vez usei Malabrigo, cor Tuareg, com botões Cath Kidston e fiquei muito contente com o resultado.

E agora também tenho um novo livro de tricot preferido na minha vida, um livro muito especial da Rosa, que muito admiro...chama-se "Malhas Portuguesas" e é fantástico! Eu já andava a "namorar" este livro há alguns meses e recebi-o como prenda recentemente. Já tenho alguns dos projectos na minha lista de coisas a tricotar, sendo que o meu favorito é o da gola minderica que é inspirado em mantas que me lembro de ver em casa dos meus avós. Adoro a parte da pesquisa do livro, mas também gosto muito dos modelos que a Rosa criou. É óptimo ter um livro sobre tricot em Portugal!

The fact is that I love to knit for babies...they are, usually, quick pieces to make and very rewarding. This piece, Pebble, is adorable and, in my opinion, ideal for little boys. This is my second Pebble, this time for a friend's baby. I used Malabrigo this time in colour Tuareg and buttons from Cath Kidston and I'm very happy with the result.

And now I have a new favourite knitting book in my life, a very special book from Rosa, that I admire very much...it's called "Malhas Portuguesas" and it's fantastic! I wanted it since I knew it was going to be published and recently I received it as a present. I have already some projects from the book in my to do list, but my favourite is the gola minderica, which is inspired in blankets that I remember seeing in my grandparents house. I love the research part of the book, but I also really like the patterns that Rosa has created. I love having a book about knitting in Portugal!  

Casaquinho de Primavera :: Spring Cardigan

Finalmente a Primavera chegou à Irlanda (alguns dias de sol seguidos, mas ainda com frio) e, com ela, veio o casaquinho da Isabel. Estava quase acabado há duas semanas, mas com todas as contipações e vírus que têm andado a rondar os membros desta família, só preguei os botões e bloquiei o casaquinho há uns dias! 

É um modelo deste livro da Debbie Bliss, é simples de fazer e, embora se torne um pouco chato pelo meio (na minha opinião), fiquei muito contente com o resultado. Só fiz uma modificação ao pôr três botões em vez dos seis; achei que tornaria o casaquinho mais moderno e ficaria melhor à minha doce modelo...

Spring finally arrived in Ireland (a few sunny days in a row, but still cold) and so did Isabel's cardigan. It was almost ready two weeks ago but, with all the colds and virus we had around in the family I only managed to stitch the buttons and block the cardigan a few days ago!

It's a pattern from this book from Debbie Bliss, it's easy to knit and, although I think it becomes a little bit boring in the middle, I was very happy with the result. I only made one modification to it by having three buttons instead of the requested six; I thought this would make the cardigan look a little bit more modern and would look nicer on my sweet model...

3 meses :: 3 months

A nossa querida bebé Isabel faz 3 meses hoje! Ela está a crescer muito depressa, sorri muito (mas não é garantido quando lhe tiramos fotografias), adora falar, estar rodeada de pessoas e o seu mano mais velho James :)

Como se pode ver pelas fotos, hoje até fez muito sol na Irlanda, mas estava muito, muito frio. Esta foi a desculpa perfeita para a Isabel usar o seu gorro novo que a mamã tricotou para ela (deste livro); eu adoro ver bebés nestes tipos de gorros :)

Our sweet baby Isabel is 3 months today! She's growing really fast, smiles a lot (but we can't always count on it when we take pictures of her), loves to talk and be surrounded by people and her big brother James :) She's a sweetie pie! 

As you can see by the pictures, today was actually sunny here in Ireland but very, very cold. This was a great excuse for Isabel to wear her new hat that mama knitted for her (from this book); I love seeing babies in these kind of hats :)

Há quase 2 semanas, as minhas amigas Veronique e Julie e eu fomos ao muito antecipado "Knitting and Stitching Show" anual em Dublin...foi muito bom, como sempre! Adorei!!

No entanto, este ano tentei REALMENTE ir com um orçamento limitado (não levei nenhum cartão bancário, nem o débito, nem o de crédito, só uma quantidade limitada de dinheiro...eu sei que posso cair facilmente em tentação!) e comprar só o que adorei e não o que gostei ou achei giro. Acho que resultou...

Comprei muito poucas peças relacionadas com tricot (só uma peça para a Isabel para o próximo verão) e "atirei-me" aos tecidos...talvez porque tenha começado a coser um pouco, estou muito entusiasmada com tecidos :)

Almost 2 weeks ago my friends Veronique and Julie and I went to the most anticipated annual "Knitting and Stitching Show" in Dublin...it was great, as always! I loved it!!

This year, though, I REALLY tried to go in with a limited  budget (I didn't bring any credit or debit cards, just a limited amount of cash...I know I can easily fall into temptation!!) and to by only what I loved  (not what I liked or thought it was cute as well). I think it worked...

I bought very little knitting related items (just something for Isabel for next summer) and went for lovely fabrics instead...maybe because I'm starting to sew a little, I'm getting really excited about fabrics :) 

July

O mês de Julho está a passar num instante...o sol tem estado ausente, mas temos tentado aproveitar estas últimas semanas "só com o James" para nos divertirmos ao máximo em actividadesao ar livre, festivais e brincadeiras mil :) O nosso pequenino está tão grande!...

The month of July has flown by...the sun hasn't been around here but we've tried to enjoy these last weeks with "just James", having lots of fun in outdoor activities, festivals and playdates :) Our little one is so big!...

Para além de gozar o nosso "menino grande" ao máximo, organizar e limpar muito, tentei tricotar um bocadinho...acima está um coelhinho que tricotei para a bebé de um casal amigo "acabadinha de chegar", e em baixo um casaquinho para o(a) nosso(a) bebé, ambos deste livro. Adoro-os! :)

Besides enjoying our "big boy", organising and cleaning a lot, I've been knitting a little bit...above there's a little rabbit I made for the recently born baby girl of a couple friend of ours and below it's a cardigan I made for our baby, both from this book. I love them! :)

Knitting again

 Pois é...eu tenho andado a tricotar, só não tenho tido a oportunidade de vos mostrar o que tenho andado a fazer. Agora que os projectos relacionado com o curso que andava a fazer no trabalho já acabaram eu posso, finalmente, respirar...e tricotar um bocadinho ;)

Este foi o primeiro Aviatrix que tricotei e adorei fazê-lo! Tricotei este modelo para o bebé de uma amiga (já para o próximo Inverno) e usei a minha adorada lã Malabrigo...ummmm! Acho que a mamã do bebé também adorou.

No meu próximo post vou mostrar-vos algumas das coisas que a minha madrasta fez para o(a) bebé e para o James enquanto nos fez uma visita em Abril. Vão adorar, são peças muito giras.

So...I'm still knitting, I just haven't showed you what I've been doing. Now that all the work with the course I did at work  is finished, I can finally breathe...and knit a little ;) 

This was the first Aviatrix I knitted and I loved it! I knitted it for a friend's baby (for next winter) and I used my beloved Malabrigo yarn...yummmy! I think the mother of the baby loved it too.

On my next post I'm going to show you some of things my stepmother made for the baby and James when she was visiting us...way back in April. They're great, you'll see.

Um gorro muito especial

O meu Papá fez anos em Outubro e eu quis dar-lhe uma prendinha especial :) Há muito que ele se queixava do frio que sentia nas orelhas durante o Inverno, mesmo quando usava um gorro ou chapéu. O gorro Ganomy da Elizabeth Zimmerman rapidamente se revelou o gorro ideal para o meu Papá durante a minha pesquisa. Ele gostou muito dele e até posou com ele numa divertida sessão fotográfica...com as orelhas quentinhas ;)

My daddy's birthday was in October and I wanted to give him a special present :) He had been "complaining" (not in a bad way) for a while about the cold his ears were during the winter, even when wearing a hat so. The Ganomy hat from Elizabeth Zimmerman quickly showed to be the ideal hat for my dad during my research. He really liked it and even posed with it on in a fun photo session...with his ears warmed up ;)

Pixie Hood

Este gorrinho "Pixie Hood" do livro Baby Beanies foi tudo o que tricotei nas últimas semanas...tenho andado doente, mas já me sinto melhor. Adoro tricotar para bebés porque é rápido e, normalmente, muito giro ;) Os fios que usei foram Malabrigo (natural) e Araucania (azul) que me tinha sobrado de um gorro que fiz para mim...este gorrinho é muito fofinho!

This little hat "Pixie Hood" from the book Baby Beanies was all that I've knitted in the past few weeks...I have been sick, but I feel better now. I love to knit for babies because it's quick and usually very cute ;) The yarn I used was Malabrigo (natural) and Araucania (blue tones) that I had left over from a hat I made for myself a few years ago...this little hat is very soft!

Este ano tem sido um ano repleto de bebés...uma óptima desculpa para tricotar (como se eu precisasse de uma)! O casaquinho acima foi tricotado para a nossa sobrinha Emily, nascida em Setembro e é do livro "Early Arrivals 3" da Sirdar. O botão que usei é vintage

This year has been a year full of babies being born around us...a great excuse to knit (like I need one)! The cardigan above was knitted for our niece Emily, born in September and it's from the book "Early Arrivals 3" from Sirdar. The button I used is vintage.

Este casaquinho acima foi tricotado para a minha afilhada...em azul petróleo, com Debbie Bliss Aran. O botão que eu usei (e que adoro!) foi feito à mão e comprado no pomar da Patrícia.

The cardigan above was knitted for my goddaughter...in petrol blue, with Debbie Bliss Aran. The button that I used (and that I loved!) was handmade and bought at Patrícia's place.

Lembram-se de que a minha amiga Julie ía ter um bebé? Pois é, a Isabel já nasceu :) e não pára de receber prendinhas, algumas delas feitas pela sua madrinha babada... "moi" :) Eu adorei fazer especialmente o "Buga Baby Bunting", foi muito divertido!

Do you remember my friend Julie? She was having a baby...well, Isabel was born in August :) and she doesn't stop receiving presents, some of them handmade by her proud godmother..."moi" :) I especially loved making the "Buga Baby Bunting", it was a lot of fun!

Xaile :: Shawl

Demorei um pouco a fazer este xaile...o xaile das folhas. Foi muito interessante de tricotar, mas fui pondo-o de parte quando queria fazer outras coisas mais pequeninas. Foi a prenda da minha querida amiga Julie, que teve um aniversário muito redondinho este fim-de-semana ;)

It took me a "little" while to finish this shawl...the leaf shawl. It was very pleasant to knit, but I kept putting it aside every time I wanted to do something smaller. It was a present for my dear friend Julie, who had a very special birthday this weekend ;)

No passado fim-de-semana tricotei estas luvas sem dedos para a nossa querida amiga e babysitter Leslie. Ela é o máximo e nós adoramos dar-lhe prendinhas (estas para combinar com a Dolores Cowl que já lhe tinhamos dado - ver foto do post anterior) só para dizer obrigado :)

I knitted these fingerless mitts for our dear friend and babysitter Leslie last weekend. She is fantastic and we love giving her little presents (these ones to match the Dolores Cowl that we had given her already - see photo from the previous post) just to say thank you :)
