Happy Happy

Só uma pequena nota para vos desejar a todos um ano novo de 2014 muito muito feliz...eu vou voltar aqui a meio de Janeiro, depois de recarregar as minhas baterias com a família e amigos em Portugal :)

Just a little note to wish you all a happy happy new year of 2014...I'll be back here in the middle of January after recharging my batteries at home, in Portugal :)

Cachecol da Raposa :: Fox Scarf

Parte do meu trabalho como trabalhadora comunitária consiste em apoiar o desenvolvimento de um grupo de tricot numa área não muito previlegiada da vila...é um projecto muito gratificante! Um dos modelos mais populares nesse grupo de tricot é o "Cachecol da Raposa" e, como não podia deixar de ser, eu também tricotei um...para o meu menino "grande". E aqui está ele a posar para a fotografia com o seu cachecol novo, o meu menino doce, doce e reguila!

Part of my work as a community worker is to support the development of a knitting group in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the town...and it's a very rewarding project! One of the most popular patterns in that knitting group is the "Fox Scarf" and, of course I had to knit one...for my "big" boy. And here he is, posing with his new scarf, my sweet, sweet, cheeky boy!

A gozar a Noite das Bruxas :: Enjoying Halloween

A noite das bruxas foi muito divertida este ano...o James adorou as decorções, o artesanato, a comida, o seu traje...ele adorou tudo mesmo! A Isabel estava mais interessada em deitar a mão à maior quantidade de guloseimas possível :) Eu já estou a ver que as épocas festivas vão ser ainda mais divertidas a partir de agora...e mal posso esperar! Espero que tenham tido um dia divertido...

Halloween was so much fun this year...James was super excited about the decorations, crafts, food, his costume...everything really! Isabel was more interested in reaching as many sweets as possible :) I can see that the festive seasons will be even more fun from now on...I can't wait! I hope you and your had a lovely day...

James loves to draw

O James revelou recentemente (talvez com alguma ajuda da chuva a cair lá fora) que adora desenhar e colorir. Consegue fazê-lo durante algum tempo todos os dias, sem interrupções, e gosta de descrever e assinar as suas obras primas. Podemos dizer que, juntamente com o brincar com o Lego, desenhar/colorir é a sua actividade favorita :) Eu adoro guardar todos os seus desenhos (alguns já destinados a molduras), pedacinhos deste tempo precioso!

James has recently reveled (maybe with a little help of the rain falling outside) his love for drawing and colouring. He manages to do it for quite some time every day, with no interruptions, and likes to describe what he draws and sign it. We can say that this is one of his favourite activities, just like playing Lego :) I love to keep all his drawings (some already on their way to frames), little pieces of this precious time!

Casaquinho das estrelinhas :: Little stars cardigan

 

Só agora tive a oportunidade de vos mostrar o último casaquinho que tricotei para a Isabel. É deste livro e muito fácil de fazer...mas, como á não estou habituada a coser muitas peças quando tricoto, achei essa parte um pouco chata. Eu estou contente com o resultado final e minha modelo também parece estar...

Only now I had the opportunity to show you the last little cardigan I have knitted for Isabel. It's from this book and very easy to knit...but, maybe because I'm so used to knit in the round with no seams, I've found the sewing of the different parts of the cardigan a little bit boring. I'm happy with the final result and I think that my little model is happy as well...

Tricotar para dar :: Knitting to give

Eu tricoto, geralmente, para dar peças únicas a pessoas especiais. Adoro especialmente tricotar para bebés...e embrulhar as peças em algo divertido ou fofinho (depende da ocasião). O meu problema é arranjar tempo para tricotar para mim!

I knit, generally, to give unique pieces to special people. I especially love to knit for babies...and wrap the pieces in something fun or sweet (depending on the occasion). My problem is finding time to knit for me!

Cake lover

Eu tenho andado a usar o meu novo "brinquedo", a kitchen aid, com regularidade. Eu ADORO-O! Não tem sido difícil...afotunadamente, temos tido muito que celebrar no mês que passou, uhhhuuuu :)

So I've been trying to use my new "toy" regularly, my favourite kitchen gadget, the kitchen aid mixer. I LOVE it!! It has not been a difficult task...luckily, we had a lot to celebrate in the past month, yaaaay :)

Para a festa de anos do James, fiz bolos baseados nos seus doces favoritos: queques de nutella (com gomas dinossauros) e queques de bolachas e creme (com bolachas oreos) deste livro e bolo de chocolate e laranja com creme de manteiga - os pequeninos ficaram doidos pelos queques de nutella e dinossauros! Para a festa de anos da Isabel, fiz queques simples de chocolate e baunilha com creme de marshmallows...delicioso. Mas o meu bolo favorito foi o de veludo vermelho que fiz para o nosso aniversário de casamento...tão leve e fofinho, baseado no deste livro.

For James' birthday party I made cakes based on his favourite treats: nutella (with dinosaur jellys) cupcakes and cookies and cream cupcakes (with oreo cookies) from this book and chocolate-orange cake with buttercream icing - the kids went crazy for the nutella dinosaur cupcakes! For Isabel's birthday party I made simple chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with marshmallow icing...yummy. But my favourite cake was the red velvet one I made for our anniversary from this book...so light and moist, based on the one from this book.

Ter uma kitchen aid so levou o meu amor por bolos para outro nível...é muito mais fácil e bonito de fazê-los! Eu adoro bolos (sempre adorei) e não sou a única cá em casa :)

Having the kitchen aid mixer just brought my love for cakes to another level...It's so much easier and such a pleasure to make them! I love cakes (always did) and am not the only one in the house :)
