Sweets

Com a chuva a cair lá fora, o que é que eu podia fazer? Ummm...talvez uns docinhos para a festa de despedida de solteira da minha amiga Marisol :-) Toda a gente gostou dos brigadeiros e a festa foi muito gira. A receita foi tirada de uma revista semanal portuguesa há algum tempo, mas só agora decidi fazê-los. É muito fácil e rápido.

1 lata de leite condensado
1 gema de ovo
1/2 colher (sopa) de margarina
3 colheres de chocolate em pó
chocolate granulado q.b.

Misture todos os ingredientes num tacho, excepto o chocolate granulado, até obter uma massa homogénea. Leve ao lume, sem parar de mexer, durante cerca de 10 minutos. Deixe arrefecer e reserve, colocando no frigorífico. Depois de bem frio, faça bolinhas. Passe-as no chocolate granulado. Sirva com chá de menta.

With the rain falling outside, what could I do? Ummm...maybe some sweets for Marisol's Hen Party :-) Everybody liked the brigadeiros and the party was very nice. The brigadeiros were very easy and quick to make.

This week

Esta semana foi um bocadinho deprimente em termos do tempo (acho que não vi o sol durante a semana inteira), mas foi óptima em termos de crafts e compras.
O nosso clube de tricot recomeçou quarta-feira, eu comecei a trabalhar numa mantinha de tricot para o projecto tricot du coeur e recebi livros maravilhosos pelo correio :-) Mal posso esperar por começar a experimentar/treinar com a minha nova máquina de costura e usar os tecidos que comprei em Lisboa num dos projectos destes 3 livros fantásticos!

This week was a little bit depressing in terms of weather (I don't think I've seen the sun the whole week), but it was great in terms of crafts & shopping.
Our knitting club restarted on wednesday, I've started working on a knitted blanket for the tricot du coeur project and I got 3 wonderful books by mail :-) I can't wait to start experimenting/practicing with my new sewing machine and use the fabrics I bought in Lisbon in one of the projects of these 3 fantastic books!

A new year

Há quanto tempo...já tinha saudades deste cantinho. Desculpem a ausência, mas andava a matar saudades de outro cantinho muito querido :-) de pessoas muito queridas e outras coisinhas mais. Foi tempo de descansar, de ver coisas bonitas e...fazer compras! Estas são revistas de que gosto muito e que compro sempre que vou a casa. Desta vez o tricot foi dominante...

It has been such a long time...I missed this little corner. I'm sorry for my absence, but I was spending time in another little corner of mine with people I love dearly :-) It was time to rest, seeing beautiful things and...shopping! These are magazines that I like very much and buy everytime I go home. This time knitting was dominant...

Neste espaço de tempo também acabei o meu cachecol simples e continuei a trabalhar em vários projectos de ponto-cruz que vos mostrarei em breve (espero). Eu quero fazer muito mais tricot este ano :-) vamos ver...

During this time, I've also finished my simple scarf and continued working in several cross-stitching projects that I hope to show you soon. I want to do a lot more tricot this year :-) we'll see...

Baking (Boxing) Day

O meu "boxing day" começou na cozinha, a tentar fazer qualquer coisa que se parecesse com a tarte de pastel de nata das receitas da Luísa e este foi o resultado. Esta tarte foi feita especialmente para a festa de Natal/Boxing Day que se realizou em casa da Margaret ontem à noite :-) e pareceu-me ter sido um sucesso. Amanhã "voo" até casa e levo outra tarte comigo, a de rubarbo, que tem grandes fãs na minha família :-)

My boxing day started in the kitchen, trying to make something that would resemble the "pastel de nata" tart from the blog "receitas da Luísa" and this is the result. This tart was made especially for the Christmas/Boxing Day party that took place in Margaret's house yesterday :-) and it seemed to have been a success. Tomorrow I'll fly home and bring another tart with me, the rhubarb tart, which my family is a big fan of :-)

Feliz Natal

Feliz Natal!

Espero que todos tenham tido um excelente Natal. Nós, por terras irlandesas, tivemos uma véspera de Natal com uma ceia (quase) portuguesa, muita música (incluindo a da missa) e algumas prendas. As prendas foram abertas esta manhã a horas "decentes" (depois das 9.30 da manhã), possivelmente porque ainda não há crianças nesta casa :-)
O almoço de Natal é o evento familiar mais importante desta época, por isso fomos até casa dos pais do Tom para nos juntarmos a toda a família. Depois de almoço e (muitos) jogos, voltámos para casa, onde vamos descansar um pouco antes das celebrações de amanhã (Boxing Day) em casa da Margaret :-) e ver o DVDs "Hairspray" e "Once" que o Pai Natal deixou no meu "sapatinho"!

I hope you had an excellent Christmas. We had a Christmas eve, in Ireland, with an almost portuguese dinner, a lot of music (including the church music) and some presents. The presents were opened this morning, at a "decent" time (after 9.30am), probably because there's no children in this house yet :-)
The Christmas day dinner is the most important family event of this season here so, we went to Tom's parent's house to join his family. After lunch and (lots of) games, we came home to rest for a little bit before we join Boxing Day celebrations tomorrow at Margaret's house :-) and to watch the "Hairspray" & "Once" DVDs that Santa Claus left in my stocking!

Christmas is coming

O Natal está a chegar. É verdade, já é dia 9 de Dezembro...e ontem foi a "cerimónia oficial" da iluminação da árvore de Natal aqui de casa :-) A árvore está um pouco diferente este ano, mais simples e natural, com peças vindas de Portugal (obrigado Luísa e ti Qué), França, Dinamarca e Alemanha (o Tom esteve em Munique no fim-de-semana passado e trouxe algumas coisas muito giras do mercado de Natal), a maior parte delas feitas à mão. Agora é altura de fazer os postais de Natal...

Christmas is coming. It's true, it's the 9th December already...and yesterday was the "official ceremony" of lightning up the Christmas tree in our house :-) The tree is a little bit different this year, more simple and natural, with ornaments that came from Portugal (thank you Luísa and ti Qué), France, Denmark and Germany (Tom was in Munich last weekend and brought home some really nice things from the Christmas market), most of them made by hand. Now it's time to make the Christmas cards...
