A little taste of Irish Whiskey

No need for words...We were in Ireland and we had to taste the Irish Whikey, Jameson in this case, (and getting a little bit of information about its history and distillation process). It was nice...a good stop on the way to County Kerry :)

Altamont Garden

As we were back home, in county Carlow, we went to visit the Altamont Garden not too far away. It was a great day because my "guests" love gardening :) In the end we even brought some plants with us...the first ones for our garden!

Clonmacnoise

On our way home we stopped at Clonmacnoise in county Offaly for a short visit. This must have been mine and Thomas' 5th visit to this site by the river Shannon but we still wanted to show it to our guests :) This is a must see place for somebody who loves history, celtic crosses and round towers!

Bunratty Castle & Folk Park

We had to go to Bunratty Castle near Limerick in County Clare :) I've been there several times but I always find something interesting and different in each visit. The medieval castle is fantastic and the park has buildings that represent life in Ireland (especially in the 19th century). It's very nice...but the best was still to come, right after the thunder storm...

...o banquete medieval do castelo Bunratty :) ADOREI!!!

...the Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet :) I LOVED IT!!!! Oh...I wanted to go to one of them since I heard of them on my first visit but, for some reason or another (times, dates, sold out, etc), I wasn't able to go until we were there last weekend. Oh...the food was great, eaten with just a knife and our hands (just like in the those times), and the entertainment & music were magical. It was great fun :)

Aran Islands

I loved going to Inishmore, on the Aran Islands in county Galway :) The weather was excelent, our guests seemed to be having fun and I was loving it all!! Oh...I think I found the Ireland I always dreamed of (the atmosphere of the island was magical, with traditional music being played in the most unusual places, nice & happy people and "breath taking" landscape) :) It was lovely...my favourite parts were the visit to Dún Aengus and the Aran jumpers & wool shops, both fantastic :)

Of course that, in the end, some Aran Island wool wanted to come home with me and I couldn't resist in bringing a book with the history and paterns of the famous "Aran Sweater" with me :) To complete my crafty shopping, I also bought 2 handmade ceramic buttons from an artist in An Spideal in county Galway, where we stayed during this trip. Lovely, aren't they?

Galway City

At the end of the first day of our tri p we were in Galway, my favourite city in Ireland. It was time to walk around the streets and by the river, besides doing some shopping. Has anybody heard of the Claddagh Ring? It's a story of love, loyalty and friendship linked to Galway...one of the many stories and legends of Ireland that are fascinating to me.

On the way to Galway...

...we stopped in Portumna to stretch our legs and visit the castle. After a few busy weeks (work + preparing the arrival of 2 very special guests, my parents :)), I've started to relax and to feel that my 12 day holidays here in Ireland were starting (wooohoooo!!).

Incredibly for me (maybe because the castle was still being renovated and didn't have too much to see inside), my favourite part of this visit was the outside of the castle, especially the kitchen garden part...wonderful!
